Thank you Amy! I'm 25 and left CT about 1 year ago to seek the wonderful west coast. The spirt of people and communites out here are extremly different than the east. I am returning to CT in about a month and am looking forward in getting involved in making CT a better place for our generation. CT is a wonderful place to live but we need lots of help bringing a sense of community back and LIFE back to our state.

Great overview of the forum. I have been writing about the issue of sprawl and the need for regionalism at my blog: www.ctsmartgrowth.com. I am president of a local smart growth group in Canton and it is very difficult to convince people that there is not a wall that surrounds are town. What impacts Hartford, Simsbury and Farmington impacts us. Competition only means that someone will win and someone will lose. We cannot afford to have any towns lose when it comes to education or the environment.

It is great to see new people taking not only an interest in these kinds of important topics but going to the length of writing a useful and inciteful summary such as this. Great job Amy and I am delighted that I found this since I was unable to attend. I was told that CTN taped the session and that would be a helpful thing to see if we can add a widget with a connection to their archives to this excellent blog. Is there a community out there that is interested in looking at these issues from the standpoint of the 30 towns in the greater Hartford region? If so, who takes the lead?
Identifing credible leadership in the region is going to be important once the new administration begins looking for the best regions to be the test the Brookings models for metro growth...we need to be on that list with a CT based region.
