The final month of the year is consistently the least active, and this year was no exception, but the contract count was the highest yet in the real estate market&#8217;s continuing recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Activity in the Hartford County single-family market was down 1.6% for the whole year compared to 2013. Monthly contract counts were more erratic than in past years, but the end result was very similar. <\/p>\n<p>Agents we&#8217;ve spoken with generally seem happy to be moving on from 2014, and are looking forward to 2015. Many have commented on how many of their deals fell apart in 2014. They felt that the market was more difficult to help clients navigate last year than in the recent past.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the big picture economic factors continue to be positive. We hear fewer concerns about job security, and the economy seems to be continuing to improve with each passing year. Interest rates have remained quite low, providing buyers with more purchasing power.
