Get your furnace serviced. You should have your furnace inspected and maintained every year to make sure that it is operating safely and efficiently.

2. Get your chimney cleaned. Some houses have multiple flues with different uses. The chimney cleaning is most important for those who burn wood in their fireplace and oil in their furnace, but it’s also a good idea for everyone else too.

3. Order firewood. This is the time to get your wood pile ready for winter so that you’re not trying to play catch up once the cold and wet weather is here. We’ve been getting our firewood from The Open Hearth for years, but there are plenty of places to find seasoned firewood.

Yes, it’s really time to start thinking about winter. The weeks and months between now and the cold weather will pass surprisingly quickly, so it’s best to get on these tasks now. And if you need recommendations for furnace or chimney people, please feel free to shoot either of us a quick email.

Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about winter.
