Snow Day 1/12/11 The End

We received about 19″ of snow in the West End of Hartford during this storm. Not bad! Just about everyone has done their initial shovel out. Lots of neighbors helping other neighbors, which was nice to see. We realize there will be more work to do tomorrow morning after the plows come through tonight and push a lot of the snow back into the bases of the driveways. Just part of the game.

By 7:00pm tonight, most of the sidewalks were cleaned…

Sidewalk in the West End

I’m not sure where all of the snow is supposed to go in some places…

Oxford Street Snow Pile

This was the car I photographed earlier today. They’re pretty hosed and have quite the shovel out ahead of them. It’s unfortunate that they’ll leave behind a good bit of snow in the roadway for the rest of us to navigate around…

Car Plowed In

We hope everyone enjoyed the day and was able to successfully shovel out. Drive safely in the upcoming days!

  1. All this snow makes finding food hard for birds (and rabbits – who don’t really hibernate as commonly thought). Consider throwing out some seed or lettuce and carrots until it melts some so they can get to the grasses etc. Feral/stray cats have trouble too in this snow and freeze for food and water. A bowl of water and some kibble can mean the difference……

  2. Saw last night that this car is, amazingly, still submerged in it’s pile of snow. I am not sure who owns this car or if they are out of town or something, but it seems odd that they cannot be bothered to dig it out.

  3. Josh- I have a feeling they are away. Typically the car moves on a daily basis. Well, before the storm anyway. They’re going to come home to quite the clean out and a few tickets.
