An Abundance of Downtown Grocery Options

Today’s opening of The Market at Hartford 21 marked another milestone in Downtown Hartford’s journey towards a full-service residential neighborhood. Hundreds braved the cold rain for the ribbon cutting ceremony, packing in to get a first look at the specialty store with an abundance of fresh foods, prepared items, and assorted grocery staples.

There are now at least five grocery or convenience stores Downtown serving both workers and residents. In addition to The Market at Hartford 21, there is also Al’s Market & Deli on Asylum, Rose’s Gourmet on Pratt, Hartford Newsstand at the base of 915 Main, and Cathy’s Deli on Main in South Downtown.

  1. An abundance? Let’s not get carried away. Those other stores are convenience stores at best, with limited and very expensive offerings

  2. Just stumbled across your review of the store while searching for it’s address so I could go tomorrow…am looking forward to going there tomorrow to try it out.
