I’ve talked about the West Hartford Dog Park committee before. They are moving faster than a dog on the scent of bacon!

The group will be hosting several dog walks to promote the idea of a dog park in the community. The first official walk with be this Sunday, April 27, starting at 1:00PM. Please meet at 7 Arapahoe which is located just off LaSalle Road in West Hartford Center, across from the Post Office.

Dogs will be leashed. Also, please remember to bring water and waste cleanup bags for your pooch! It should be a great time.

If you can’t make it this Sunday, don’t despair, there will be other walks…

Saturday, May 3 at 1:00PM – Elizabeth Park (meet at the Pond/restaurant)

Sunday, May 11 at 8:30AM – West Hartford Center (at Walk for Lupus/Blue Back Square)

Tuesday, May 20 at 6:00PM – Elizabeth Park (meet at the Pond/restaurant)

Front Street Sweets, located in West Hartford Center, at 35A LaSalle Road, is one of my new favorite places to grab a quick lunch or morning pastry. They have a variety of hot and cold offerings for breakfast and lunch, all equally delicious.

Front Street is open Monday through Thursday from 7am-6pm, Friday and Saturday from 7am-8pm, and Sunday from 8am-4pm. You are welcome to sit down and enjoy your meal or take it on the road. The staff is cheerful and friendly and will gladly tell you their favorites.

This morning I picked up a yummy chocolate chip scone. Which I promptly split with Kyle because it was ginormous. In the past I’ve had paninis and wraps (try the Apple Cider Chicken). The Mulagatani soup is also yummy on a chilly day. Don’t ignore the cupcakes for dessert!

I have a slight addiction to bread. One of my favorite places to visit is the First & Last Bakery Cafe, located in the South End of Hartford at 920 Maple Avenue. Atkins Diet be damned!

It’s a very pleasant place to stop in and get your fill of carbohydrates. They’re open Monday through Friday from 7:00am-4:00pm and 8:00am-3:00pm on weekends. In addition to a wide variety of artisan breads, they also offer fantastic sandwiches and salads. Trying the baked goods will not disappoint either. Prices are reasonable and wine and beer is available if you’d like it to accompany your lunch. Enjoy!
