A Day in the Life of Amy

The other day I was speaking with one of my clients and they said “I’m not sure how you handle all of this; your clients, the blog, your kitchen remodel, your kid.”

Frankly, I’m not entirely sure either. Well, a super supportive spouse is certainly a big part of it. But the comment got me to thinking. What exactly am I doing during a day? There was a spate at the beginning of March where I worked 16 hours days for 7 days in a row. That was The Suck. My days would go something like this:

4:00am-6:30am Wake up. Read emails that came in overnight and review client emails with property matches. Respond to emails. Do paperwork.

6:30am-7:15am Shower and make myself presentable for the day.

7:15am-5:00pm Client meetings, schedule showings, more paperwork, meetings with photographer, respond to client phone calls and emails, create marketing pieces.

5:00pm-5:30pm Eat something. Pat my kid on the head and give her a kiss and hug and tell her I love her. Do the same for Kyle and the dog. Ask for a kitchen update.

5:30pm-8:00pm Client meetings, more paperwork, respond to client phone calls and emails.

8:00pm-10:00pm Write blog posts, respond to emails, read the news to find out what the heck is going on in the world.

10:00pm Go to bed.

I’d get emails back from my clients saying things like “did you really send me this email at 4:11am?” Yes, in fact I did. Because that’s when everyone else is sleeping and not sending me emails or calling me. 🙂

The spring real estate market is a crazy, hectic time. I know there are many agents that are working just as hard as me and we all manage to slog through it. July and August are the slow months and they will eventually get here. For now, we work at maximum capacity while the folks buying and selling are there and need our help.
