Weekend Plans: March 26th 2011

Will this be the last weekend to enjoy Husky basketball this season? Let’s hope not. Both the men and the women are still alive in the Big Dance. I’m just glad that nobody will have to be “sick” this week in order to catch all the action since the games start after 7pm.

Events & Activities

This weekend is the Home Builder’s Show at the Connecticut Convention Center, the annual extravaganza featuring everything home-related that you can imagine. My personal favorite exhibits are the sheds, probably because we really don’t have a good place to store our outdoor equipment. Some of the buildings are the size of small homes, so the name “shed” doesn’t really do them justice. Even if sheds aren’t your thing, there is plenty to see and do. The show website has the exhibit hall hours and a coupon for $2 off parking. Regular admission is $10, seniors are $8.

Open Houses

101 Kenyon Street, Hartford, $317,000, Sun 1:00 to 3:00
This historic home has nice spaces, terrific details, and a lovely setting in the West End of Hartford. Think spring with the fantastic heated sun room overlooking both the street and the back yard (picture above). French doors provide a dramatic connection into to the living room, while the ceiling fan helps keep the temperature absolutely perfect. Stop by to see the whole home on Sunday afternoon. More details and a photo tour are available.

62 Wells Road, Wethersfield, $189,000, Sun 1:00 to 3:00
This Cape-style home has an updated kitchen overlooking the sunny, level, and fenced back yard. As the weather improves, that yard is going to look better and better – a place to work in the garden, play with the dog, or just relax with friends. All that snow in the picture is already gone. The current owners have a brand new pool out there for you to use (no, not this Sunday), but they’ll take it with them if swimming is not your thing. Come check it out. More details and a photo tour are available.

What Else?

Send Kyle (KyleB@KyleB-RE.com) a quick note if you know of other events we should include … thanks!
